LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEM
ABSTRACT
The project LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEM is targeted for the college library for better control and timely response. This eliminates time delay and proper transactions being marked. The librarian is provided with a better control over the transactions like issuing and returning of books, CDs, inventory management. This project’s main motto is to reduce the effort of the librarian and provides better service to the users.
This project is divided into four modules.
1. Administrator module: Deals with privileges provided to the librarian.
2. User module: Deals with user information in library.
3. Librarian module: Deals with librarian work in library.
4. Search module: Deals with searching for information in library.
EXISTING SYSTEM
The existing system of the college library is run manually by entering data in books and keeping track of all the data in the book.
The different processes involved are:
- To maintain books, issued details of users manually.
- To maintain book return details.
- To maintain details of the current book stock.
- Calculating penalties for books and CDs.
- To maintain the inventory details.
DRAWBACKS IN CURRENT SYSTEM
Data is maintained manually which is tedious and error prone, more delay and inventory management of the library becomes difficult as the number of books grow.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
The proposed system solves the problem mentioned above. The main objective is to make the library information details more efficient and user-friendly.The system will maintain the data in the database and the data can be retrieved easily and in an efficient manner.
ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM
Issue and return of books, CDs can be done quickly and efficiently so that it provides better services to the user.The proposed system provides efficient management of inventory in the library.
Data redundancy is reduced.Because of computerization, manual work is eliminated and manual errors can be overcome easily.
